Quiet in the street
Posted by Chris
A crowd is gathered, but it is not a celebration.
No jeering from the rafters, no singing of the choir.
The sky is clear, no birds whistle their love of the day.
The engines of man’s machines are off, cold for no one tries to leave.
A wind stirs, but the leaves do not rustle, the branches do not clatter.
The sound is on mute, silent we morn, we weep, there is quiet in the street.
May the Kirk family find peace, and my heart goes out for their loss. I pray for them, and that Charlie’s message of Christ’s love rings all the louder, unlike the poem, do not let us fall silent,
We the followers of Christ must share the hope we have within us. For we we’re dead and found life, at the cross of Christ. Justice demands that our rebellion against God, rebellion against his plans for us, rebellion against his design for our life. But Jesus paid that price, we need only repent and choose to accept his gift of forgiveness. To repent is to turn away from, and to accept Christ’s gift of forgiveness is to pursue his plans and design for our lives (not our designs for ourselves). Charlie shared that love, that hope, that message.
This message cannot be silenced, it has rang loud across the world for nearly 2000 years, we can be certain that this is true, and the pursuit of truth is a valuable effort…
