The Sorcerer’s Gamble is Available now!
Posted by Chris
Hey everyone!
The Sage of Hytae trilogy is complete! The Sorcerer’s Gamble is released on Kindle! (Print to follow very soon, just have to finish fixing some print errors today). To celebrate the release The Crystal Seal (book one in the trilogy)is free for the next four days! On top of that The Candesent Vessel is on a count down sale for a week, if you pick it up today you can get it for only 99cents! Those are of course the kindle editions of the books, but still pretty sweet deal.
The Sorcerer’s Gamble is $4.99! (not 5.99 like my other ebooks were their first year so price break there π ). Thank you all for your patience in waiting for the release to finally happen. I hope everyone enjoys the completed series and if at all possible leaves some amazon reviews, and tell your friends (Advertising is expensive and hasn’t been kind to me so far ha ha).
Until next time (when the physical book is actually available I hope). Have a great day!

It’s Release day!
Posted by Chris
Hey Everyone!
Today marks the day that The Sage of Hytrae Trilogy is finally complete! Well it would be if Amazon would actually let me release it. It exited review today (which means I should have been able to launch it). But unfortunately since I updated one field (added more keywords >.>) it has to be “reviewed” again… They were able to get this turned around in 48hours last time so hopefully this time will be quicker. Anyway, watch this space for further details. I will be continuing to fight their Kindle filters (hopefully I can get at least one version actually released today).Β I did not have nearly as many issues when it was createspace and not just amazon, oh well.
Talk to you all again real soon.

A synopsis for The Sorcerer’s Gamble
Posted by Chris
Hey everyone!
Sorry I didn’t get this out last week. Between working long hours at work, and fighting with KDP to get the print to look right (I’m about half way through that fight right now), I just didn’t have time to post until now.
I have sent the manuscript to the copyright agency, so the ball is rolling there. I will continue to get more done on the artwork side this week as I am able. I am hoping to have new banners for both this site and facebook.
Anyway, I am posting the synopsis from the back cover of my book below to give a little tease of what is to come later this month. Enjoy!
Mistar recovered a lost research tome that reveals the plot to bring Hytrae into darkness. He must race to alert the orders of magic before it is too late! During this time, Cyan and Lucy have trained over the winter at the Northern Monastery. Lucy easily passed her trials but Cyan has yet to attempt them. Three must stand at the end of the age, and Fate has a way of forcing you hand….

How my editing process goes
Posted by Chris
Hello everyone,
Since I am in the process of reviewing the first draft of The Sorcerer’s Gamble, I thought I could let all of you know how I approach my editing process. I don’t believe I have written this out before, but it would be interesting to see what you all think.
I begin my editing by re-reading previous entries (in this case the first two books). Then I sit down with my first draft and begin creating the second draft. I call the process that I employ a “read edit”, this is because I literately edit the book while I am reading through it. I only do this for the second draft, otherwise a book would never be finished. During this process I am primarily looking at story flow, character voice, context of existing explanations, supporting details, and if the general goals of each chapter are being accomplished.
Whew that’s a lot huh? ha ha. To top it off once I start the “read edit” I try to complete it in a short window (typically less than two weeks, though I aim for five days). Since I tend to write in spurts (sometimes taking months in between writing sessions), this helps smooth out the story. This whole process provides a level of polish, and single vision for the book.
What happens next? Once I have the second draft, I print out proofs and send copies to my editing/reviewing team. This team is composed of a few individuals who I trust, that can look my book over with a critical eye. While they have it I also go back over it, looking for grammar, spelling, and such errors, which creates the third draft. I take the feedback of my team and generate a forth draft based on that input. Then I usually take another pass through, making sure the flow and grammar still work, and any changes made become draft five. After all this, the book is ready for release and I shift my focus towards promotions and advertising.
This whole process takes place over several weeks, so there won’t be too much to update on as far as that goes. I look to get some artwork out to you guys soon, and I plan to be changing the banners on this site and my Facebook soon there after.
Thanks for reading this summarized look at my editing process, I hope it’s not too confusing ha ha. Its a bit of a long post, but hey I missed last week so this makes up for it π

The Sorcerer’s Gamble Promo
Posted by Chris
We began our journey following a young man named Cyan in search of adventure. He learned adventure is not carefree but often brings troubles and heartache with it.
We then heard a tale from Lucy, a young woman who found herself while on a different path then she had desired. She learned that who we are is discovered, when you fight for what you believe in.
Now, the story continues…
A new journey is coming, and a single voice will not be enough to tell it. Join Lucy, Cyan, and more on an adventure that was foretold thousands of years ago. Will Hytrae plummet into an age of darkness? Three must stand at the end of the age. In this climatic conclusion to the trilogy, a choice must be made.Β The Sage of Hytrae will determine the fate of the world.

December update
Posted by Chris
Hey everyone,
I am sorry that I have been pretty quiet lately. Life is getting busier as I’m sure it is with everyone around this time of year.Β I have been making progress on the final installment in The Sage of Hytrae trilogy. I’m hoping to release the final name for book 3 in or before January, with a synopsis soon after. Just finding the time to buckle down will be the biggest factor in getting this third book out to everyone.Β Thank you all again for the support, it would be so much harder without it! π

The Candescent Vessel officially recognized under copyright
Posted by Chris
Hey everyone!
I am excited to show everyone what I got in the mail earlier this month!
That’s right, my second book is officially recognized as my own copyright by the US Copyright Office! π If you haven’t had a chance to check it out here is a link to the kindle version/amazon paperback: The Candescent Vessel (The Sage of Hytrae Book 2) you can also find more links in the Where to Buy section at the top of the site.
It is always a good moment to see these kind of milestones with a published work. A big thank you to everyone who has bought my first and second books, number three is on the way. More on the third book coming soon!
May is here, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.
Posted by Chris
Hey everyone!
I hope all the mothers out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday! I spent a fair bit of mine with my mom (who has helped me proof my books along with my wife), along with a portion of my family.
Spring is in full swing, and lots of people are starting to put out their gardens.Β Fun fact: gardens are popular with home owners in the realm of Hytrae too. While you might not have read much about that fact in the past, you would have met no less than three farmers in the first two books. See if you can name one of the farmers in the comments (without looking it up in the books, that’d be cheating π ).

New Novel Project Announcement!
Posted by Chris
Hey Everyone!
I am happy to announce a new novel, I will give everyone the project name (the final title might differ on release at this point). The project name is The Last Prophet. The novel takes place in the darker but not too distant future here on earth. The end of the age is coming and God has appointed a very unlikely soul to be the final prophet to the people of earth. The story follows this person (more details to come) as the events that lead up their appointment as a prophet, and the events that follow.
I will periodically post updates on this project as I continue to work on it. I am playing around with the idea of publishing this novel with the help of Kickstarter. I will need to do some extra research to get this novel written in a timely manner, and that will be difficult with my “day job” alone. The novel will be taking place in another country (Not the US where I live), and since I’ve not actually been to the country that it takes place in I could really use help to set the scenes (I’ll talk more about where it takes place later).
This book is planned to be of similar length to my other novels but with the extra research involved, it will likely take longer to write. I want to make sure I accurately depict the locations, and people of the region, and as such extra care will be taken. I can write much quicker about entire worlds I envision in my mind, but since this takes place on earth; the best way to see it is to actually visit it! Let me know via the poll below if you think I should try to use kickstarter to help publish this novel.
